Esurance Poems of the Road Contest Awards Big Money for Winners

In honor of National Poetry Month, Esurance Poems of the Road Contest will assist drivers in getting ‘revved up’ about cars and writing. Those for a love of poetry, travel and money get a chance to show off their skills on the Esurance blog if they win. Aside from literary fame, the winning poets will receive:

$2,000 (first place)
$1,000 (second place)
$500 (third place)

NPR’s ‘Car Talk’ guys Tom and Ray Magliozzi will assist as judges while lending their ‘literary and automotive expertise’ to poets. Fans can read the poems and vote for their favorite through Facebook. Poems must be original, 14 lines or less and use the word ‘road’ in the body or title.

Submissions will be judged based on creativity and originality, content, imagery and audience votes on Facebook. (Voting will be open until May 7, so get your entries in early for a shot at more votes!)

Aspiring writers can enter starting today by visiting Esurance’s Facebook Contest Page. The contest runs through April 30, 2012. People can vote on their favorite poems through May 7, 2012.
