Delta interns head for Lagos this year.

Afam Chukwuki became Delta’s first business student intern in Lagos, Nigeria, after the airline announced the launch of its new internship program today. The program aims to give young business students an opportunity to gain work experience and learn new skills in global business operation.

“Delta’s intern program is a natural extension of our activity and investment in the markets we serve,” said Bobby Bryan, commercial manager in East and West Africa.

In cooperation with a Nigerian State University, Abraka, Delta’s one-year program teaches interns how to work in the sales force, handle specific projects and make analytical presentations. The airline is developing its internship program across western and eastern Africa, working with local business schools in Senegal, Kenya and Ghana.

Chukwuki, Delta’s first intern in Lagos, studied industrial mathematics and has now begun working in the sales office. After the internship year, he will travel to Atlanta to meet with Delta managers and tour the headquarters.
