The word “cruise” usually brings to mind sun-baked voyages in the Bahamas or Mediterranean. But Adventure Life has reimagined the cruise experience with their upcoming Great Lakes cruise tours, set to launch in 2012.

“These Great Lakes cruise tours are rich in history and beauty,” said Adventure Life Operations Director Jonathan Brunger. “Travelers can just sit back, relax and let all of the incredible sites and scenes come to them; it’s just beautiful travel and gorgeous scenery.”

The Great Lakes cruises will begin departing in June of next year. These 12-day cruises start at $4,995, and they depart from Duluth, MN and Detroit, MI. Travelers enjoy the Great Lakes aboard the Yorktown, a 257-foot cruise ship.

Highlights of the tour include the many islands of Georgian Bay Islands National Park, Manitoulin, the world’s largest freshwater island, and Mackinac Island, a journey back to the Victorian era – instead of cars that are forbidden on the island, horse-drawn carriages and bicycles share the road.

The Yorktown also sails throughout coastal New England and the historic Antebellum South.
